Hand-washing training in Clara Town
Clara Town is a township to the north of Monrovia.
Oxfam has paid for the training and equipment of some 484 Community Health Volunteers in West Point, Logan Town, Clara Town and New Kru Town. These are four townships to the north of Monrovia. All of them are poor slum areas.
The Community Health Volunteers are run by the Municipal County Health Team, the local health authority
Oxfam pays the volunteers $80 a month
Oxfam has provided 8,000 family hygiene kits to West Point, Logan Town, Clara Town and New Kru Town. This is enough for 56,000 people. The kits consist of two buckets, 50 bars of soap and Ebola information stickers. One bucket has a tap and is used for holding the water the other sits below this to catch water when people wash their hands.
