In December 2024, the EMPOWERD project achieved significant milestones in promoting migrant inclusion in territorial development processes.
On December 3, a meeting in Ipiales under the Policy Engagement and Dialogue framework brought together migrant representatives, the Territorial Planning Council, and local government officials. Discussions focused on integrating migrants into Ipiales’ “Gobierno del Pueblo” Development Plan (2024-2027).
Outcomes included the election of migrant delegates and agreements to formalize their inclusion in decision-making bodies. Additionally, the Migrant Voices, Rights in Action campaign launched in December, featuring three videos and four infographics. The campaign amplifies migrant voices, challenges stereotypes, and encourages participation in public consultations and policy dialogues. The campaign was launched through FUNDEPAZ’s social media and has so far had a significant reception in terms of interactions;
