Enrico Belen is a farmer living in Dalugan, on the San Ildefonso peninsula. Although he lives on the peninsula, Enrico is not an Agta and therefore the ancestral domain claim does not apply to him. He does not own his own land, he currently holds a lease via the Integrated Social Forestry law. This is a 25-year long instrument which gives around 298 upland farmers on the peninsula rights to use the land This lease is due to be renewed in 2014, but Enrico fears that APECO’ÂÂs presence now means that the lease will not be renewed. This will, in effect, evict him and his family from the land they have farmed all their lives.
