Coordination with Collaborators in Tunisia
The project is currently closely following the cases of two families whose children have disappeared over the past three years. Local collaborators provide direct support to the families, while the coordinator, due to the increasing criminalization of civil society in Tunisia, manages the monitoring remotely through calls and weekly meetings. The possibility of conducting a field research period is still being evaluated to further investigate the procedures for searching and identifying missing persons, as well as to analyze the movements of families and the current social and political context. If this is not feasible, remote interviews will be conducted with the support of an already well-established network of contacts to ensure an accurate reconstruction of events.
Additionally, collaborators in Tunisia organised a commemorative event in Menzel Bourguiba on February 5, 2025, as a moment of remembrance and awareness regarding the issue of missing migrants along the Central Mediterranean route.
