Support to Business Centre in Prijedor

Prijedor, dopo la ristrutturazione
Prijedor, after the reconstruction

Business Centre Prijedor is an example of the best work practice at local economic development level in South East Europe.

The centre was established by Prijedor municipality and is located in the administrative building of the ex cellulose and paper factory “Celpak”.
The Centre aims to accommodate all stakeholders in local economic development in one location. During 2011 Business Centre Prijedor saw the reconstruction of the windows and entrance doors, placement of the external insulation and partial reconstruction of the roof. It currently accommodates: office of the regional chamber of commerce Banja Luka, crafts and entrepreneurial chamber Prijedor, wood industry cluster and furniture industry “Drvo PD”, as well as Agency for economic development of town Prijedor “PREDA-PD”.

The reconstruction works contributed to the reduction of 30% in consumption of wood used for heating of the Centre, while the energy consumption used during summer for air conditioning is reduced by 25%.

These results have been achieved through cooperation between town Prijedor and SeeNet programme, as well as the project implemented by the Ecological society Kozara, supported by UN Development Program (UNDP).
Total value of the works was 200.000 KM (around 102 000€), with Agency for economic development of town Prijedor “PREDA-PD” coordinating all activities.
In addition to the works invested in improvement of energy efficiency and work conditions in the Centre, SeeNet also financed the design of the work plans for the Centre, small equipment purchase, design of a number of documents and analysis necessary for the functioning of the Centre, as well as part of the design and technical documentation for building of the industrial zone Celpak, in the vicinity of the Business Centre Prijedor.
From its initiation in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2005, programme SeeNet, in partnership with PREDA-PD, supports the development of SMEs in Prijedor.
